Report highlights company’s strong culture, good decision making and continued focus on sustainability

Carrollton, GA – August 6, 2020:  Aligning with the company’s focus on sustainability and philosophy of continuous improvement, Southwire recently engaged S&P Global Ratings to provide an independent, forward-looking evaluation of the company’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance and preparedness.

According to S&P Global Ratings, its ESG Evaluation is “a one of a kind assessment of a company’s ESG strategy and ability to prepare for potential future risks and opportunities.” The report includes a profile of the company’s performance in the areas of environmental, social and governance and also looks into the company’s readiness, or preparedness, for future risks or disruptions. These areas combine to provide a total ESG Evaluation score, which can range from 0 (lowest) to 100 (highest.)

“Our goal at Southwire is to remain generationally-sustainable for the next 100 years and beyond,” said Burt Fealing, Southwire’s general counsel and sustainability officer. “By participating in assessments like the S&P Global Ratings ESG Evaluation, we are provided with a credible, third-party review of our performance in key areas of sustainability. This allows us to celebrate our strengths and also identify areas where we can continue to grow.”

Of the ESG Evaluations completed thus far by S&P Global Ratings, the scores ranged from 40 to 89 out of 100. Southwire scored a 70, which indicates strong performance in our business sector. The company’s ESG profile highlighted excellent culture and good decision making based on its focus of sustainability, employee well-being and strategic decisions made to further these goals. Southwire’s governance scored well, reflecting its strong structure and oversight and good code and values.

“We have much to be proud of as we look at our accomplishments, but we won’t stop here,” said Fealing. “By using the feedback from this evaluation, we will strengthen our continued pursuit of sustainability. I am confident that Southwire is well poised to meet, and even exceed, the goals that we have set for our future.”
