Southwire’s president and CEO, Rich Stinson, recently attended and spoke at Women in Manufacturing’s (WiM) first-ever Men as Allies Conference in Clearwater, Florida.
The event was tailored for men in the manufacturing industry at the director level and above, who are committed to fostering diversity and inclusion within their organizations and for those who are eager to grow as allies, actively supporting and championing women in manufacturing.
Through participation, attendees gained insights, tools and strategies to become more effective advocates for a diverse and inclusive workplace.
“Committing to allyship is an ongoing effort to better learn about, challenge and work to knock down barriers that many women may experience in the workforce,” said Stinson. “Southwire is dedicated to continuing to grow and is committed to bringing more women into the manufacturing industry. It’s a great time to be in the electrical industry and it's a great time to be at Southwire.”
Southwire has engaged with WiM since 2018 partnering to drive inclusivity, one of our company core values, for Southwire team members and across the manufacturing industry as a whole. We support, promote and inspire women in manufacturing careers and aspire to be an extraordinary place to work for all.
"We are always looking to make a positive difference,” said Casey Long, Southwire's vice president of manufacturing. “It's important to have accountability partners that can help call out ways we can improve as we continue to grow, diversify and focus on inclusion as an organization.”
