Southwire Company, one of North America’s leading manufacturers of wire and cable products, announced a partnership agreement today with Swiss manufacturer Kummler+Matter AG (K+M), a Colas Rail company, for the distribution of electrified rail system hardware and solutions designed for Overhead Contact Systems (OCS) in mass transit applications.

Complementing Southwire’s extensive wire and cable catalog for OCS systems, over 400 K+M specialty components will be available directly through Southwire, bringing existing and new product solutions to U.S. transit authorities.

The K+M KUSEC co-manufactured section insulators will incorporate Southwire’s SouthWear^® 30% wear indicator contact wire. Southwire will also be the North American supplier of K+M’s innovative KUPRO de-icing system for the prevention of ice build-up on various industry-related structures.
