Southwire recently updated its quality management system from ISO 9001:2008 to ISO 9001:2015 – the international standard for quality management systems. The latest revision of ISO 9001 provides requirements for how the organization manages key processes to provide products and services to customers. This update will help harmonize quality processes and place a greater emphasis on customers.
A way for Southwire to ensure consistency across product lines and reduce variability, the update to ISO 9001:2015 is key to better serving Southwire customers and continuing its focus to Drive Operational Excellence.“ISO 9001 certification is something we can be proud of,” said Angela McKeirnan, vice president of quality. “We want our customers to trust that we will deliver consistent, quality products each time they do business with us and this is one way we can make that happen.”Southwire has held ISO 9001 certification on a site-specific level since the early 1990s; however, over the past two years, the quality team has worked to harmonize the system to Drive Operational Excellence as a whole. Currently all Southwire locations are operating on ISO 9001:2015, excluding those that were acquired after 2016.“Our team has been working to complete these updates and harmonize our system for more than a year,” said David McDonald, director of quality. “In doing so, we are confident that we will enhance our ability to serve our customers and strengthen our existing processes across the business.”For more updates about Southwire's commitment to operational excellence, stay tuned to southwire.com/newsroom.©2018 Southwire Company, LLC.
