The recommendations are based on Southwire’s general interpretations of the latest codes & standards including NFPA 70® NEC® and UL standards. It is the sole responsibility of a Licensed Electrician and the discretion of the local AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction) to approve products for a site-specific installation. There might be local regulations or unique conditions that might limit the product use. As a result, our responses above are for reference only. We advise the end users to consult with a licensed electrician and the AHJ before purchasing and installing any Southwire products.
The voltage drop calculator is applicable only to NEC applications and is designed for applications using AWG and KCMIL sizes only. It does not optimize conductor sizes for several different loads at various points in a circuit. The total combined load and length of the circuit must be used. Consult with an engineer if your application does not fit into one of the following categories and/or requires more complex engineering calculations.
