Recent Conferences and Industry Events Focused on Inclusion :

National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) Panel:

Southwire’s President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Rich Stinson, and Chief DEI Officer, Cara Herzog, participated at the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) annual meeting along with other industry partners on a panel titled “The Power of Women in Electrical Manufacturing.”

Stinson is the Chairman for NEMA’s Board of Governors, which is comprised of 30 senior corporate executives. Founded in 1926, NEMA represents the electrical and medical imaging industries that power modern living, innovate life-saving medical technologies and build a connected future. Together, NEMA’s industries are responsible for 1.65 million American jobs and contribute more than $200 billion to the U.S. economy.

Women in Manufacturing SUMMIT:

Southwire was a presenting sponsor at the 14th Annual Women in Manufacturing SUMMIT that took place in Boston, Mass. and attracted more than 2,000 individuals with a focus on women in the manufacturing industry. Southwire leaders participated in a panel titled “Powering Performance Through Inclusion” where they discussed Southwire's efforts and commitment to inclusion, and how it leads to broader organizational performance and impact.

Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers (SASE) Conference and Awards:

Leaders and team members recently attended the national Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers (SASE) conference in Boston, Mass. The event was designed so that participants could connect with one another, learn and celebrate diverse workforces, specifically those in the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community. In recognition of their efforts at Southwire and submitted by Southwire's Spectrum employee resource group (ERG), five AAPI Southwire team members received SASE Achievement Awards at the event.

2024 Global Employee Resource Group (ERG) Network Conference:

Southwire recently participated at the 2024 Global ERG Network Conference and received an award for its commitment to inclusion and Giving Back. Southwire was recognized fourth in the “Top 10 Enterprise-Wide ERGs and DEI Councils," which was the third year in a row the company has received an award at the conference. Southwire’s ERGs are open to all team members and are a catalyst to lead with our key company values of empowerment, trust, consistency and inclusion.

STEM Goes Red Atlanta:

Southwire, along with the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women initiative, sponsored the STEM Goes Red event in Atlanta, Ga. The program focuses on empowering ninth to 12th-grade girls to explore careers in STEM through hands-on experiences and engaging with local experts and leading employers. Southwire leader, Christy Wright, Senior Vice President of Corporate Finance, is the 2024 Atlanta STEM Goes Red Chairwoman. Wright volunteered at the event and led four breakout sessions where young girls could learn more about the career possibilities in STEM.

The Aimee Copeland Foundation Golf Tournament:

The Aimee Copeland Foundation Golf Tournament was a resounding success, bringing together 72 golfers from various companies for a day of philanthropy. The event raised nearly $50,000 to support the foundation’s mission of empowering people with disabilities through access to outdoor recreation and wellness resources. As a Signature Partner, Southwire played a pivotal role in the tournament's success, further solidifying the company’s commitment to community support and making a meaningful impact through collaboration and Giving Back.

Braves Warrior Classic Event:

The Warrior Alliance Event at Truist Park provided a remarkable experience for 20 veterans and 30 Southwire volunteers, celebrating service and giving back to the community. Veterans enjoyed an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the ballpark and practiced batting alongside Braves players. The event showcased Southwire's commitment to supporting veterans and fostering meaningful connections between military veterans and community.

Pride Festivals and Parades:

Southwire recently participated in the Carrollton and Atlanta, Ga. Pride Festivals and Parades. The organization won an award for its booth at the Carrollton celebration and co-sponsored opportunities with the Atlanta Falcons for the second year in a row at the Atlanta Festival. At both events, Southwire partnered with the local communities to give back to its partner, The Trevor Project, collecting letters and words of inspiration for LGBTQIA+ young people and suicide prevention counselors.

Other notable events that Southwire was involved in over the past few months include engaging in the University of West Georgia’s panel and golf night, participating in an Out of the Darkness suicide prevention walk in support of mental health and wellness, hosting OnBoard, a Southwire sponsored networking event for women in leadership, hosting a high tech tour and luncheon for local high school students and more.
