Over the weekend, severe weather claimed the lives of at least 15 people and left widespread destruction across many residences and businesses in South Georgia. The Carrollton collection will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 25 from 7 AM until 7 PM and Thursday, Jan. 26 from 7 AM until 2 PM. Volunteers will collect supplies at the Walmart Supercenter in Carrollton.Southwire’s Douglas Plant will be accepting donations at Douglas City Hall on Wednesday, Jan. 25 and Thursday, Jan. 26 from 7 AM until 7 PM.Items accepted through the collection include bottled water, paper goods, cleaning supplies, nonperishable food, baby items, pet supplies, personal hygiene products, ice chests and more. Monetary donations will also be accepted.“Southwire’s Douglas Plant is only 40 miles from the majority of the tornado damage, and we want to make sure we take care of our neighbors during this difficult time,” said Kristian Whittington, Southwire’s manager of employee engagement and communication and Project GIFT coordinator. “Project GIFT began as an outlet to serve those suffering in the wake of disaster, and we continue to focus our efforts in that same spirit of giving back.”Donations accepted through both collections will be delivered to storm victims in Adel, Ga.For additional information on the disaster relief collection, visit Southwire’s social media sites or call (770) 832-4729.©2017 Southwire Company, LLC.
